What is ITIL 4?

ITIL 4 provides you with comprehensive guidance for the management of information technology in the modern service economy. The ITIL 4 framework is built on established ITSM practices and expands itself to the wider context of customer experience, value streams and digital transformation, as well as embracing new ways of working, such as Lean, Agile, and DevOps in the ITIL 4 High Velocity IT publication.

ITIL 4 expands on previous versions by providing a practical and flexible basis to support organizations on their journey to the new world of digital transformation. It provides an end-to-end IT/digital operating model for the delivery and operation of tech-enabled products and services. IT teams are enabled to continue to play a crucial role in the wider business strategy.

The ITIL 4 certification pathway image above shows the different modules a learner can study to reach an ITIL designation. For example, to be recognised as an ITIL Managing Professional, a learner would need to be certified in the four modules under the ITIL Managing Professional (MP) heading. That includes ITIL 4 Specialist: Create, Deliver & Support, ITIL 4 Specialist: Drive Stakeholder Value, ITIL 4 Specialist: High Velocity IT, and ITIL 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve. There are two more designations: ITIL Strategic Leader (SL) which would require a learner to be certified in two ITIL 4 modules, ITIL Leader: Digital & IT Strategy and ITIL Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve. The final designation is ITIL Master, which would require a learner to be designated as both an ITIL Managing Professional (MP) and ITIL Strategic Leader (SL).

This ITIL Leader: Digital and IT Strategy module explores the use of the ITIL framework to support organizations on their digital transformation journey. This includes, the internal and external factors to consider while crafting digital strategy, how IT strategy differs from digital strategy, creating a digital strategy that achieves the most value, implementing and sustaining digital strategy, and developing and nurturing digital capabilities for continual business innovation and value co-creation.

ITIL 4 Digital and IT Strategy defines an iterative, eight step model, moving from vision through to actions, and is about creating sustainable, digital momentum.

This ITIL 4® Leader: Digital and IT Strategy focuses on the alignment of digital business strategy with IT strategy. The module covers how disruption from new technologies are impacting organisations in every industry and how business leaders are responding. The pace of evolution in the digital world is rapid and only gaining momentum with each passing day. Organisations need to respond with flexibility and adaptability to the ever-changing digital and IT landscape if they want to keep providing value to their customers and remain competitive in their marketplace.

This ITIL 4 Digital and IT Strategy training course will benefit IT practitioners who have undertaken ITIL 4 Foundation and seeking to continue their journey in service management, along with IT Service Management practitioners who; are responsible for managing and integrating stakeholders, focus on the customer journey and experience, and/or are responsible for nurturing relationships with partners and suppliers.

Accredited training for the ITIL Strategic Leader modules is mandatory to enable full understanding of the core material.

All ITIL 4 Strategic Leader modules require learners to hold an ITIL 4 Foundation certificate.

Once you have ITIL 4 Foundation certification, this course is one of two Strategic certifications needed to achieve the ITIL 4 Strategic Leader designation. The other is ITIL 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan, and Improve.

Ahead of the course start date you will be sent an electronic Pre-Course Study Guide and the ITIL 4 Leader: Digital and IT Strategy officially licensed book, which you should study.

During the course, your trainer will guide you through the relevant content and ensure that everything you need to know in order to pass the exam is covered.

Following completion of the course, you will be issued with an exam voucher which can be redeemed anytime with PeopleCert online, within 12 months.

Exam Details

  • The exam will be computer based and completed online via a compatible device
  • The exam voucher, redeemable with PeopleCert, is included in the price of this course
  • Exam vouchers allow a delegate to book the exam whenever they want, within 12 months
  • The exam itself will last up to 90 minutes and consists of 40 multiple choice questions
  • The pass mark is 28 out of 40 (70%)
  • Exam results will be withheld for candidates until the correct prerequisite information is provided to PeopleCert
